Selon la taille pratiquée et les conditions de végétation, d'autres bourgeons que ceux laissés volontairement par la taille peuvent se développer sur tout ou partie des ceps. Issus du tronc ou des bras de la souche, ces rameaux infertiles - appelés parfois "gourmands" par les vignerons - seront supprimés par l'épamprage.
Depending the pruning practise and the growing conditions, other spurs
than those choosen to be left after pruning, can grow. When they are growing
from the trunk or from the stump these branches are called
“gourmands”, meaning greedy. They will be taken off when the
vine grower proceeds the clipping off. ( épamprage)
The “épamprage” is done by hand, rarely mechanically.
